The Hennessy cognac house was founded in Cognac in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish expatriate. It is now part of Moët Hennessy, within LVMH.
Its cognacs are blends of eaux-de-vie made mostly from Ugni Blanc grapes, and the Fillioux family has led the blending for around two centuries. X.O, created in 1870, is the house's best-known cognac. Hennessy works with about 1,600 vineyard partners and is sold in more than 160 countries.
