The Allegrini family has played an important part in Fumane and Valpolicella Classica since the 16th century, and the winery has operated as a business since 1854. From the 1960s until his death in 1983, Giovanni Allegrini steered the estate towards quality single-vineyard wines.
The estate farms about 150 hectares in Valpolicella Classica and uses only its own grapes. The family also owns the Renaissance Villa della Torre. Alongside Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, it is known for La Poja, made entirely from Corvina Veronese.
