Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is a Bolgheri estate in Tuscany founded by Marchese Lodovico Antinori. The vines were planted in 1981 and the first vintage was 1985. Since 2005 the estate has been wholly owned by the Frescobaldi family.
The flagship Ornellaia is a Bordeaux-style red based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The more approachable Le Volte, first made in 1991, is roughly half Sangiovese and half Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
